I recently had my AC compressor rebuilt and recharged with R12. 4 months later, it is still blowing 37 degree air, so I am happy. This past Saturday I went to a car show which involved about 25 miles at freeway speeds. I turned on the air for the ride home, and things started out great. After about 12 miles, the air became warmer, but continued coming out of the appropriate vents. This went on for the balance of the freeway miles. Once I got back into the city, the AC started blowing cold…

From reading earlier comments on the same subject in this chapter's forums, I realize this is a vacuum related issue. However, some of my vacuum lines off the back of the intake manifold run to different sources other than what has been pictured on this site. Two of the lines run to a black canister that is mounted below the master cylinder. I have not seen that canister mentioned in any of the descriptions.

What I have is as follows. One T-fitting runs vertically out of the manifold. One hose goes to behind the throttle linkage, the other one running off the T goes to one of the inlets on the canister. There is a second T-fitting at the bottom of the manifold nut. One of the lines goes to the wiring block connector, and the second line at the T goes to the second inlet in the canister.

I also read Jason and Russ' description on a secondary check valve on the insulator board by the steering column. Should I be more concerned with this one, or the vacuum check valve at the manifold?

The blower motor on my '63 is squealing from time to time. It is an A/C car if that makes any difference. I decided to pull it out today and add a few drops of oil to the motor bearing. The shop manual states to "remove five screws retaining motor assembly to blower housing and remove motor and fan assembly. It appears that the motor is mounted out the bottom of the blower housing, and is inaccessible from the engine compartment. I attempted to remove the housing from the fire wall by removing the 4 screws along the top, and a nut on a remaining fastener underneath, but it would only pull away from the fire wall at the top, and only about 1/2 and inch, Am I misunderstanding the instructions in the shop manual? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
My '64 deVille restoration is (mostly) finished.tag:6364cadillac.ning.com,2023-10-26:6543066:Topic:3208632023-10-26T21:43:38.988ZMichael Voglerhttps://6364cadillac.ning.com/profile/MichaelVogler

It's been a labor of love, time and expense to restore (frame on) my 1964 Cadillac deVille. With the new top, I can say the restoration is (mostly) finished.
Every thing on the car works. It's fair to say that it's almost like new. There are few small things I still have yet to do, such as replace/re-chrome the instrument cluster bezel and drivers door control button bezel (there is a little bit of corrosion on the chrome, nothing most passers-by would even notice), but these are more detail cosmetic cleanups that anything else.

I simply love this car and would like to thank Jason, and everyone in this car club for their advice, guidance, and sometimes parts. Thank you!

I want to replace my convertible top. It is currently vinyl. I’ve been seeing canvas as a replacement alternative. Any thoughts or recommendations between vinyl and canvas? Where they both available for a ‘64 Deville? I’ll be putting a white top back on the car.

Also, anyone from Southern California have a top replacement shop recommendation?

Thank you.
