Have any of you seen or heard of a "Chateau deVille" model? I searched the internet and only found two references to it (below). Sounds like it might have been a dealer installed package? I actually have "Chateau deVille" emblems on my rear quarter panels, in place of the "Coupe deVille" emblems. Coincidentally, I also have rocker panel trim and wreath + crests on the c-pillars, kind of similar to the Fleetwood models.

I asked Jason about it via PM a few months ago and we both agreed that they were likely mods that a previous owner had done to the car, but now I'm starting to think that it might have been a factory/dealer option? WFIW - all of the emblems and rocker trim looks fairly legit; like they were professionally installed.

Thanks!

The forum has been down this road before.  Without any written documentation, there is no proof to verify that your car is a dealership Chateau custom.

One or two dealerships did do this to the cars.

Thanks, Russ, that's interesting. I don't know the original owner and definitely don't have any documentation. Are there any confirmed owners of a Chateau custom on these forums?

Side note - I searched for "Chateau" before posting, so apologies if I doubled tapped.

Back when I was a juvenile of 12 annums in Arlington, Va. in 1969, I saw a parked '64 Cadillac, 2- or 4-door–––I don't remember–––with the same emblem as in the photo above, Chateau deVille.

Being somewhat surprised by this new-to-me model, I told my father whos car was our family's '57 Fleetwood. He bought it used in '64 from Lindsay Cadillac in Alexandria, Va. I remember him showing me the signal-seeking radio when he first brought it home.

He retired the car in 1970 after buying a '67 Plymouth Fury station wagon, Unlike the troublesome Cadillac, the Plymouth, a fine Chrysler product, served us well. My father said of the Cadillac, "It's a nice car if you have a satchel of money to go with it".

Anyway, pronouncing Chateau correctly, I told him about my seeing a Cadillac Chateau deVille. He didn't believe it, saying something to the effect of: ah, you misread it or something.

I knew what I saw and have never seen one since.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
