Hi fellas, regretfully I am trying to sell my 1964 Cadillac Coupe deville. I've had it almost 4 years now and am having to face facts that I just dont have the time or money to do what I want with it. I also dont want it sitting up rotting when someone else could be enjoying it. I bought it from an old man that had some engine work done on it right before I got it and since I've had it I got the brake boosters and manifold replaced along with the speedometer cable. As far as I know pretty much everything else on the car is original but it does need to restored (paint, some body work, a/c does not work, interior not in horrible shape but could use being reupholstered, needs new weatherstripping). I've also had an issue with something draining the battery on it if it sits up for a week or more. All of the power windows work except for the small triangle window on the driver side and in all it's a good car. It has ran good for me when not fighting the battery issue and is really an overall good car. I'm asking $5,000 for it but would be willing to negotiate. I'm located in Longview Texas which is about 2 hrs east of Dallas on I-20 and about 1.5 hr from Shreveport Louisiana. I also have plenty pics just wasnt sure how to put them on here so I can email them or text them if interested. Hate to let go of this once in a lifetime car for me but feel like I have to right now. Thanks!

Think I found how to add pics, also car has 77,000 miles on the dash and engine is a 429

Post pictures this way:

If your clock is still working as mine did for about 40 years then i fixed it and put it back in the car so going on 50 plus years of working Now

If it is still working i would be betting that that is what is drainning your battery after two weeks
You see -these clock ---never stop running and will drain the battery

Not a good idea to be draining the battery often --as it will kill battery longevity so put the battery on a smart trickle charger or you can remove the negative terminal on the battery when the car sits for two weeks or more

A simple fix --to what you may think is an electrical short problem of some kind and is Not

Very good luck with selling the car

Just a heads up —that your pictures are not opening on my computer

only seeing top edge of the photo ( about 1/8 an inch )

Enjoy

Pics not working for me either Hank.

Went through Longview some years ago on my way from Houston to Daingerfield also visited a grave in Omaha. Its a beautiful part of Texas.

What are you asking?

Is there a separate Starter Relay, or does the Solenoid serve that purpose?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 30, 2019 at 5:57pm 7 Comments

Hello All.

I will be replacing the starter solenoid tomorrow (actually my mechanic will do the work, I'll just supervise). In checking the FSM electrical schematic and chapter verbiage, I don't see anything that looks like (or is referred to as) a starter Relay. It seems the Starter Solenoid serves the function and there's no separate relay. Right or Wrong?

If wrong, where…

Starter Solenoid replacement-how difficult? Where to buy?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 20, 2019 at 8:24pm 8 Comments

Hello All.

I believe the starter solenoid has gone bad in my 64 DeVille. When I turn the key, often all I get is a click, then if I try a few times again the starter turns perfectly. All battery cables are on tight and the battery is good. So, I believe this problem is the solenoid. Where do I buy the right solenoid and is it necessary to remove the starter in order to swap it out? …

Lining up the drive shaft

Can anyone shed some light on how to position the complete drive shaft in the correct position? I want to make sure my drive shaft is installed properly.

Thanks

Dominic
