I've had the car for 3 months now and I'm really happy.  I've been spending every night in the garage (and that's fine with the wife).  Originally had problems with front wheel cylinders but replaced those and all is well.  Brakes are working good but not good enough for the Mrs.

Thinking about a front disc conversion.  Looking at OPGI, Scarebird and CaddyDaddy.

Anyone have suggestions ?  I want to stick with my stock wheels (I've read this is sometimes an issue)

When the stock brakes are right there SB no problem at all about the way these cars stop and brake
Only suggesting you might want to restore the stock braking system as it does the job real well in my own opinion
After all it was designed by Cadillac
I own my car since new - 64 convert
My brakes have-- never ever --faded on me
A good chance that the rubber hoses in the system are worn and expanding ( spongy peddle ) or other brake parts are worn ( wrong brake shoe material ) brake booster needs replacing
These cars being very old and not knowing there prior history is a part of evaluating the brakes that is the problem
The brakes on these cars get rock solid about 3/8 inch of peddle travel when they are correct

Those parts may still require changing with front disc brakes being installed
You can get the stock brakes working as they should for very much less dollars than a disc brake set up
Just a heads up -- as there are so many ways to spend your dollars in a Classic Antique Cadillac Restoration
Your call

Nice looking car -- mine is the same color

Enjoy

I did Abs Power Brakes on one of my 63CDV! Really easy to install and works just fine. I think is better to spend that few extra $ and get front and back replaced by discs though that way you can replace bearings and oil in the differential which is only 55 years young :)

however I am about to rebuild the brake system and the suspension I’m my other 63CDV and planning on keeping it stock, meaning drum brakes.

Need correct Muffler for 64 DeVille

Posted by Norman Silverman on June 18, 2018 at 7:57pm 13 Comments

Hello all.

I need to replace the muffler on my 64 and the local shop does not have the correct one.

After looking on the web site's help section, I still don't see a recommended part/manufacturer or suggestion.

What is the best solution to purchase for a stock, single system with 2 1/2 inch pipes, center in, offset out?

Thanks.

Norm

64 Power Seat Transmission cleaning-it did the trick

Posted by Norman Silverman on June 16, 2018 at 5:36pm 4 Comments

Hello All.

I thought I'd post a little encouragement for those that might have an inoperative 6 way power seat in their car. The fix is relatively easy, and VERY cheap.

I just purchased an original (not re-painted, nor reupholstered) 64 Sedan De Ville 4 window. When I purchased it the front seat was adjusted forward and tilted down in front; two of the worst positions for me, so I had no choice but to attempt to repair it.

Pushing the switch in each direction brought…
