I cannot figure out how to replace a burned out courtesy light in the right rear door of my 1964 Fleetwood 60 Special. Does anyone know how to do this without taking the whole door panel off? I was hoping the light housing would pop out but it does not seem to do so. Looking at it from below with the bottom of the door panel loosened it looks like one can't replace the bulb without getting the housing out.
Use a small flat ended jeweler's tool or very small screwdriver to gently pull release the 4 tabs on the plastic lens. There at 2 on the top on the ends and 2 on the bottom on the ends. Just start at top and gently pry down. The light are those cigar shaped bulbs that just pop out once lens is removed. HEre is a picture with the lenses removed so you can see where the lens tabs pop in at top and bottom ends:
They can be a bit brittle too, so very steady as you go.
Jason, that helps a bunch. I will be able to give it a try after dinner. Thank you very much especially for the pics!
Kevin, I will be very careful. Thanks.
Jason, the lens came right out. New bulb in and working. Thanks again for the help and the pics
Fantastic. This is another example of why I like to just concentrate on these 2 years. As a group we can collectively figure most things out! And what we can't...we'll just fake it! :-)
