Just to note, this looks similar to the horn used in 1963 and 1964, but there were different tone horns (and part #'s) used in 1963 and 1964, so this horn is obviously not an exact original replacement for the full year range stated. It is a nice horn regardless. Here are more details I had posted on the CLC forum:

The 1964 Eldorado came with a Low-C long trumpet horn with slightly different tone than the B-Flat used in 1963 and earlier model years. It was also available as a dealer installed option on other 1964 Cadillacs, giving a full complement of 4 horns! The part # on that 64 Eldo horn is 199 9896 and is stamped 896.
I finally found a nice one for my 64 Coupe de Ville about a year or so ago. It sure does sound nice. For the eBay horn it would be nice if they posted the part # as Buick, Olds and others also had similar horns available. I got lucky and found the correct original  Eldo horn for my 64, but the eBay horn would be a nice addition to an early 60's era Cadillac regardless.

Everything Jason said is correct.  I used the horn in my 62 and it looked good for car shows. I now have part number correct horn for my 62. I did not advertise it for the 61-64 caddy’s because it’s not part number correct. It does look like one however.

At age 58, i'm just happy to have a horn period, bugger what note it plays. :-)

Oh I know, i'll go back to my naughty corner now.

It would make an excellent addition to any 1963/64 Cadillac. I was only pointing out additional information about the original horns. If I had not lucked up and found my 896 I would probably be looking seriously at this horn!

Jason, The horn is stamp 12V 946. Dave

947 is the 61 to 63 Cadillac B-Flat Horn. I bet that was an Olds horn.  Someone with an BOP Master Parts Book could confirm. Either way it would be a nice addition for someone.

How much would something like that be worth?

Kevin

I have seen the long horn sell for 400 dollars in the past for the correct year
200 is a very good price but it is a 62 horn looks like

Enjoy

As noted the 1961 to 1963 Long Trumpet Eldorado horn is a 947 horn, not a 946 horn.  I don't seem to have recorded anything but if memory serves 946 may be the Oldsmobile offering of a very similar horn.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
