Hello, I have a 63 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible.

The car was recently rear-ended and I now have a dent in the rear bumper.
Separately, the front bumper has some rust holes.
I've attached pictures of both.
Can you advise what options I have for getting the dent out and fixing the holes, and potential pricing guesses?  I looked on the supplies page and sent an email to Bumperboyz, as I'm in Los Angeles, so we'll see what they say.  It may be cheaper to replace the front bumper ends than try to fix mine if I can find them.
Does anyone have good conditions parts for sale for either of these?
What would you do?
Thank you.
-Tim

Tim, talk to a chrome shop that specializes in bumper repair.   Also contact this guy in Cali   centralplating@gmail.com

Tim, The rear center bumper and front lower ends (buckets) are some of the most in demand parts for these cards. They do come around on parts cars but that is becoming less frequent these days. The fronts can be repaired by good metal shops. I know a friend had one done for about $800 if I remember correctly ... so if you cannot find good ones and have deep pockets they can be repaired. That rear center is pretty mangled up and guess it might could be repaired but the cost might be some multiple of that. I often get rear center in with just minor dings, etc. If you want to go on my Wait List for these email me your contact info to jasonedge@n.rr.com.

I did a quick check on my Wait List and have:
- 19 customers looking for 1963 front lower left or right bumper end spanning back to 2013;
- and 7 looking for 1963 rear center spanning back to 2015.

Of those looking for fronts only two are Chapter Members and for the rear only one. I mention this as I always give 1st preference to Chapter Members .... not to mention 10% discount on parts, so you might consider joining the Cadillac LaSalle Club (CLC) and then our free Chapter. Joining the CLC has many benefits  (see attachment) and gets those hard to find parts in your hands very fast.

To join the CLC go to www.cadillaclasalleclub.org/join

The front lower buckets go for about 4-500 dollars in good condition when you can find them

Enjoy

Well, that is what some people charge ... not me. I usually charge $150 to $250 each in solid condition. I don't want Tony's response to discourage you from getting on my Wait List. I am not going to give these super hard to find items away but I don't gouge people either.

That is for each one

Enjoy

The prices I have suggested are those I have seen over the last 6 months on the market here and there

Some are having there own repaired and rechromed due to availability issues

Jason will always be giving you the right part at a great market price if he has the part

Doing business with Jason or Russ will always be a rewarding experience

Enjoy

Tim, I have a few 63 rear center sections that need to have the minor dings hammered out.   send me an email russ85747@hotmail.com  for further specifics.

Thank you guys.  I am waiting for a quote from BumperBiyz, and I will email centralplating. Once I have an idea of what they want for repair and rechrome, I will go from there.

I have used Decore Plating on 164th street near Figueroa for years. They do great work and are very reasonable, especially by California standards. It would be worth getting a quote from them too.

Thanks, I will check them out!

I know this company does excellent work. They replace rusted pitted steel in the pieces before chroming. Basically what you get is a "new" part. No idea about price. Shipping will be a factor as well.

Douglas Metal Finishing Limited - London

I buy parts from the states. Shipping is a constant issue. Custom fees as well. But this company could very well be your solution as they do not need to comply with the same regulations as in the states. And right now the dollar is strong and the pound is weak (Brexit you know). Take your parts, put them in a suitcase. Fly over for a nice week with the wife. Maybe she appreciates your hobby even more. ;-) Then three months later your parts should show up in an excellent condition.

Bad Guage?

Posted by Karl Schwarz on August 26, 2020 at 3:08pm 6 Comments

So I am troubleshooting my fuel gauge issue. I bought a new sender and tested it. It  it goes from 1-ohm (empty) to 35-ohm (full). When I test it (outside the tank), when the float is in the up (full) position it only moves the gauge to about 1/2 full. When at the bottom (empty) position the gauge shows empty. This is the same issue I have when I fill and then use the gas in the tank - the gauge never reads ore than half full. Based on what I've read on this thread it would seem like the…
