I going to rebuild the front end on my series 62 1963 caddy. I have searched the web and found tons of parts. any suggestions on vendors? I would like to replace the coil springs. I have used Kanter and Steele rubber on other projects. Any suggestions ? Thanks
I rebuilt mine and was not able to fine polyurethane, but wish I had. It improved the car dramatically. The old replaceables were spot welded in and I missed this because of the dirt. These need to be cut. I wish I had powder coated everything. I did replace the sway bar with a heavier one from a commercial 63 (limo or something). It is a larger diameter bar. That helped. It is a heavy car with big, hard to deal with parts. I would not do it myself again, but enjoyed the experience. I like the idea of replacing the springs, If I recall there are 4 "plastic" inserts top and bottom of the springs that dampen the noise. i had to reuse mine.
Thanks for the info
I bought a complete kit from Kanter. Including new springs and shocks. Satisfied with it except the length of the upper bolts on the shocks as they where a little bit to short, so had to modify the rubber.
My car is now factory standard height. For the general public it does look little bit to high, but that's because they only see sagging cars with 54-55 year old springs.
Thanks several; years ago I rebuilt My 59 chevy elcamino front end springs all the way around with Kanters Deluxe kit. I was very pleased. The WWW has opened up so many new sources I was just asking around. I am leaning toward Kanter and I have book marked their Web site. Thanks
