Very, Very Fuzzy low res pictures and the description is super vague. You could probably get better pictures from a 1990's flip phone and the description is a couple of sandwiches shy of a picnic!
I will say if it is just an engine fire with burned wiring, rubber and plastic, and a scorched hood and no mechanical issues, that's pretty easy to get back in shape. 3 Harnesses, a few rubber and plastic pieces and let Maaco do a trick on the hood and some fresh paint and you are back in business. I know because that is exactly how I bought the Cherry Red 4 Window SDV you see below. The engine had caught fire from a busted or leaking fuel filter, and bought it for $500, installed wiring off the shelf, used a few cans of rattle can paint, and let Maaco do $150 job on the hood and that baby was ready to roll. It was actually a very fun car, since it was not completely stock with that Nissan Cherry Red Pearl Metallic paint, (originally Beacon Blue as I recall) and I could have fun with the engine and interior colors. Here's a couple pictures of that Caddy:

a very pretty car. Always wanted one for a daily driver.

I do occasional work on my friends 63 convertible. I get to drive it around, and I prefer the ride in my sedan. The convertible rides horrible. Body flex, bumps and shakes are terrible. It is just the fact that there is not steel roof holding the car together. The convertible is a solid car with new suspension too.

I'd jump on both of those cars in a heart beat. The 64 is an easy fix. Probably a carb fire, and possibly from a leaking choke heat tube.  Easy money on getting that one back together.

The 63 is still a good deal, but the right door fire wall structure is a concern. The door hinges could have bent it in.  Still fixable if it is damaged there.

The convertible could be a great buy but note it is an auction so the price is open To adjustment

Enjoy

Russ
I am surprised to here you are less than happy with the 63 convertible ride
Not sure whats up with the 63 --but my 64 convertible ( and my 62 convert ) shows none of the symtoms you explain above about the 63 convert
My cars ride is very smooth and tight as it could be with a true amazing Cadillac ride
No noticeable flex super smooth over bumps no rattles ever --etc
Not sure what your friends 63 suspension is about
Could the new replacement suspension be the problem ?
The cloud nine ride is very much a part of my own experience with the 64 convert
Just surprised by that note

Enjoy

429 cadillac engine kit

Posted by Dave Fundaburg on January 14, 2018 at 1:10pm 3 Comments

Getting ready to order engine rebuild kit. Has anybody had experience with the master rebuild kit from Kanter. It seems like a fairly comprehensive kit considering I need almost everything including camshaft, valves, valve guides, valve springs and rocker arms. I was just wondering if anyone had any issues with the quality of the parts, or if there was a better way to go. I was also curious to know if anyone has used their performance upgrade camshaft. I will be using a 750 c.f.m. Edelbrock…

Turbo Hydra-Matic

THM400 or Turbo 400, not sure what you guys talking about?

In 1964 Cadillac used two transmissions (not counting the commercial HD version), the 4 speed Hydra-Matic and the 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic. I have not found any reference in the 1964 Shop Manual to THM400 or any word with 400 attached to. Also checking my 1966 Shop Manual and 400 is not present there either, only Turbo Hydra-Matic. Serviceman bulletins for 1964 does also NOT state 400. Sales brochure does not use 400.…
