Getting into the nitty gritty of putting the FRONT brake shoes and hardware back on the backing plate and I'm coming across a few questions:

1)  The interior hold down yellow springs have short pins 1 7/32"....i got two kits and none of them come with the short pins.  Does anyone have any insight on that?

2)  There are 3 types of hold down spring yellow blue maroon of vaying lengths.  Again this configuration is not included in any of the kits

3) The conical spring under the self adjuster lever again not in the kits

Is there a substitution method for these springs?  I've done alot of research and can't seem to find these items.

Thanks

I think that the kits available at the chain stores are probably replacement parts for "just in case." They don't even come with enough spring hold down cups to do the job. What a joke! If you want the right kit, you'll have to.... Spring for these. https://www.opgi.com/cadillac/CE10685/

Either that, or find a local brake shop and they have a bunch of spring that they can match yours to. I just put my old ones back on. :/

The kits i got were specifically for 64 cad Rock Auto etc..  Even the ones in the OPGI picture aren't correct (unless the pic is wrong).  I am also refinishing the ones that came off but i was hoping to replace with new parts.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
