just a heads up to be checking the air gauge you use for your tires to see if it is—-Still Correct !

just learned that I have been over inflating my daily drivers tires by 4 lbs and wondering why my ride was as rough as it has been on brand new tires

after having my new tires —rebalanced the tech asked me why my tire was at 40lbs when it should be 35

a check of my air gauge —right there  showed the air guage was out of calibration by 4 lbs

I watch my air pressure very closely always ( every 10 degree temp change generally )

besides the rough ride there is a safety issue with not having the recommended tire pressure correct

I do have my guage for a long time but this did catch me off guard and I am not at all happy about that especially when I take the time to do do what I think is being done correctly and it is not correct anyway

this was an Eye Opener for me —so please do check your Good Old Air Guage  against another for accuracy

Amazon has some very  nice gauges with  life time guarantees

hope to have you—— not have to deal with the above issue at all if possible

Hey Tony, don't worry, an extra 4 psi wouldn't have hurt anything.

I run the Fleetwood on 36 and check them ever month or 3. The big trick is, who says which gauge is correct?

My main gauge, under reads by 8 psi and I have a separate gauge, that has been checked against 2 others, which is correct, but then, who says the two other were correct in the first place. LOL

Tony, you can go to the auto store, buy 6 tire pressure gauges and they will probably all read differently. Buy a good usa made one and call it a day.

Do you have run flats on your daily? They ride a lot harsher than regular ones

Tony, you would have fun chasing temps in NC. It can be in the 30’s one day and 80’s the next ... especially in the spring and fall.

The key is --you know that your air guage is not reading correctly and you can adjust accordingly
I thought i was running 30lbs in the 64 when actually i am running 34 which is close to your 36 ( on radial tires )
The additional 4 lbs in my daily driver made the car ride much rougher than the reduced pressure i am now using after my air pressure education
I did correct the problem i was having with that cars ride
The shorter wheel base car in my daily driver has you feeling more incorrect tire activity than some other cars would

No i do not run flats but an interesting thought as i know very little about running flats myself

Just an attemp to explain how closely i do watch my tire pressures
If the average weekly temp has a 10 degree change i will give the tires pressure a quick check
Sometimes no tire pressure adjustment is needed when checked

Gentelman thanks always for your cumulative feedback

Dash removal

Hello everyone,

On a 63 CDV, if a guy wanted to remove the entire dash to get all the metal painted, and do some other things behind there, how would he go about doing that?  I checked here and the shop manual, but can't find a complete guide.

As always, and help or direction is appreciated.  Thanks!

Introducing myself

Thanks for letting me join the club.  Picked up this ‘64 Coupe Deville a few months ago out of Beverly MA, the car has few stickers on it from various Cadillac clubs, didn’t know if anyone might recognize it from it’s “Glory days.” Everything seems pretty healthy except for the body and some very Mickey Mouse repairs, was wondering if anyone had any leads on…
