I am not sure if I have ever posted one of these pictures, but when I am done with a car it goes to a local metal years TT&E, here in Garner, NC and they reach down with "The Claw" and take the remaining carcass.

This last parts car, an 1963 Series 62 4 Window Sedan, weighed 4595 lb new, but dropped down to 1760 lb by the time I dropped it off at the metal yard. And that included a trunk and inside full of a lot of junk metal.
They are only paying a fraction of what they paid just a few years ago, so at only $2 per 100 lb, this carcass netted me only $35.20! At $8 /100 lb I use to get about $140.. and remember it being even more.

If I had the space I would save the frames and perhaps the bodies. At least this one got some extra use as the rear trunk area and front framing was cut out to help salvage another Cadillac.

Anyway...here's to you, Mr 52!!

It's sad but we can't save them all. Just think of how many other cars will benefit from parts donated from this car.

Good quality steel. Not what's in the new cars nowadays.

In shipping its even worse. The steel used to build boats in China is mostly reused steel on its 3rd leg. Ships used to be built for 25+ years. That's basically down to 15 now. And many 10+ ships should already be scrap.

Once I scrapped a 31 year old tanker. She was in better condition than a lot of the stuff that floats the oceans today.

I remember getting close to 300 for a stripped series 75 many years ago.  Least I got was 30 something.  This coupe with the top chopped off was a good donor car.
