Back to redoing the interior on our 1964 Deville convertible. Have the front door panels pretty close to replacement with new vinyl etc. Does anyone have a diagram . or explain how the chrome control panel, especially the vertical chrome piece at the lift handle, is assembled to the interior door panel. The front screw is obvious, the rest is not to me.

Also, what is the screw size that hold the lift handle on.

The rear of the arm rest switch plate screws into the large right angle metal bracket that is attached to the side of the door as seen below. There is a long slot in the middle for the plastic piece of the arm rest to screw into, and a hole near the rear as seen in this picture for the rear of the switch plate. Note that the front arm rest chrome handle cover goes on first, then the arm rest switch plate, and the finish screw goes down through both.

The door release handle screws as a 10-24 thread, is about 1/2" long, with a 5/16" hex head and an external star washer under the head. I have plenty if you need one.

Yes , Those metal brackets are missing from each door of our car.  Do you have a set of those brackets?

Tom, Yes I have plenty. Let's say $5 each bracket including the large short attaching screws for a total of $10 + $7 s/h for a total of $17. If you need any of those small door release handle screws just add 1$ each. You can shoot me a PayPal to or you can email me for further discussion or if I need to send you an invoice.

Sounds fine, Do you also have the two(four) screws that will hold the two chrome pieces to the door bracket?

yes, I have the 4 chrome arm rest switch plate finish screws. Just add another buck.

Thx, Jason knew something was missing from each door--you solved it.

Paid youvia paypal already.

PS. Till the next missing part!

Everything will go out in the morning. Glad to help and thanks for the business.

Jason, Near each end of the door pulls I am missing a screw that I believe would fasten the pull to the inside edge of the door panel.

If you can tell me what size they should be or include four I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your help once again.

I can throw in 4 of those large screws.

64 Recirc/Fresh Air Door Actuator replaced; FROM THE INSIDE.

Posted by Norman Silverman on February 4, 2019 at 11:21pm 8 Comments

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back.  It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Where do the flashers go in my 64 Deville Convert.  I'm thinking that's why both turn signals stopped working.

Source for Motor mounts and Trans mounts 1964 SDV

Where is the best place to purchase good quality motor mounts/trans mounts for my 1964 SDV? I see that Rock Auto has them for $8 and change, and others for $24 and change. Big difference. Is there a better place to buy them from?
