So, i’ve Reached the blower motor on my list of things to fix.

the car doesn’t have A/C, the control has a switch that seems to control the variable can speed on the car.  This doesn’t work at all.  My fan currently has two speeds. On, or off.  It clicks on when the switch clicks into the highest setting.

also, the control arms for the temperature and heat/Defog/deice.  If I move them over to the far left the fan clicks off.

any suggestions? Could this be a faulty switch, faulty motor or the resistor packs?

Received! I will check those first.

Cheers!

I would bet that the switch is bad. Take it out and spray brake parts cleaner inside it and move the lever around to clean the contacts.

The fan is suppose to shut off when it is in the full left position. That's the off position and the fan switch  has no power.

I have good used switches and resistors if you need one.  Just email me at russ85747@hotmail.com

Thanks Russ, I was playing a guessing game at best. That's exactly what he needs to figure this out. We would have got there but it would have been closer to Christmas lmao

James look at the three pictures I posted. The middle one has the resistors circled in purple and the bottom picture is the actual resistors.

I’ve had a look and am somewhat confused, my car doesn’t have A/C so wasn’t sure if it would be the same, from the look of it, it’s behind the glove box?

James those were random photos from this forum. Jason edge had them posted to to his photos. Most questions can be answered by using the help page or search at the top. They may not be exact but they should be in similar shape and place. The glove box comes out easily.

The resistor is behind the glove box. Be carefull removing the glove box, as the corners will break off if man handled.  Just find the sweet spot and the insert will slide out. No need to remove the glove box door.

Is there a separate Starter Relay, or does the Solenoid serve that purpose?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 30, 2019 at 5:57pm 7 Comments

Hello All.

I will be replacing the starter solenoid tomorrow (actually my mechanic will do the work, I'll just supervise). In checking the FSM electrical schematic and chapter verbiage, I don't see anything that looks like (or is referred to as) a starter Relay. It seems the Starter Solenoid serves the function and there's no separate relay. Right or Wrong?

If wrong, where…

Starter Solenoid replacement-how difficult? Where to buy?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 20, 2019 at 8:24pm 8 Comments

Hello All.

I believe the starter solenoid has gone bad in my 64 DeVille. When I turn the key, often all I get is a click, then if I try a few times again the starter turns perfectly. All battery cables are on tight and the battery is good. So, I believe this problem is the solenoid. Where do I buy the right solenoid and is it necessary to remove the starter in order to swap it out? …

Lining up the drive shaft

Can anyone shed some light on how to position the complete drive shaft in the correct position? I want to make sure my drive shaft is installed properly.

Thanks
