Is there a special trick to get the hood to line up properly? I can't seem to get the back of the hood to go all the way down.

This takes 2 people.

Person #1 holds the hood up.

person #2 loosens the bolts to the hood hinge. The bracket on the fire wall gets loosened too.

Person #1 pushed up on the hood. The intent is to lower the back of the hinge, while raising the front of the hinge up.

Loosen the brackets too, so the hinge rocks completely.

Dry hinges will hang up a hinge, so lube the hinge pivot points with a general purpose oil. WD-40 evaporates, so use something else.

If that doesn't do it, then the hinge has reached its life span.   The rivets wear, causing the hinge to flex.  Taking the spring off the hinge, you can see the movement in the hinge joints.

Yea, The first response is 100% right. I had the same issue - rebuilt the hinges (they really looked ok before rebuild) and the rebuilt hinges brought the hood right down.

I think if you take the springs out, the hood drops into the right spot - this may be a good test for the hing wear.

Is there kits to rebuild the hinges? How do I get them?

I have the 2 sizes of rivets needed.  They need to be machined to fit.   A complete set is 21.00
