Hi All

am putting the 63 Convertible back together

am currently putting the front goodies on

i have operating turn signals but no cornering lights

i jumped power directly from the battery....they both work

i checked the orange wire on each side.....no power

all connections under the dash are tight

my turn signal lever was bent upwards 90 degrees by some dipshit at the bead blaster location

i am wondering if there is an issue there or if I should look elsewhere

i have an extra turn signal switch....and am going to hook it op and see what happens

any other ideas?

thx

Test light time..... :-)

About all you can do is find where you do have power and work your way towards the lamps themselves.

Update

tried the extra turn signal switch.....no change

not sure where to go

i checked orange wire on firewall side of wiring block.....no power there

checked turn signal as follows

R On

LT BLUE and PURPLE have volts

YELLOW/BL and WHITE no volts

L On

PINK and DK BLUE have voltage

ORANGE and WHITE no volts

Mark, i hate auto electrics with a passion and would rather give myself a frontal lobotomy than be dicking around with wires.

A test light search is about as far as I go before calling a sparkie. Someone with more smarts than me (Not too hard) will be along shortly to help you out.

Frontal lobotomy or bottle infrontofme?

Mark

I wrote up a thead in the --search engine--( top right of the home page ) here when trouble shooting my same cornering light problems that i repaired
Sure some of the info will be very helpful
Under -- steering wheel removal --there

Enjoy

Kevin

Good timing as i see it !!!!!!!!!

Hey, good to see you came back again..... :-)

Another update

no power to the DARK GREEN  wire either

Mark, Are you checking them with the parking lights or headlights on? That's the only time they are supposed to work.

Ha ha, who hasn't done that at some time.... LOL.

Years ago, I was chuckin a sad, Jesus H Christ, I had a power a minute ago....  rant.... rave... carry on like an idiot, to then realize, i'd turned the ignition back off. :-)

Mark
When you go to the steering wheel removal thread ( in the search engine ) -i suggested you will have to go to the very last page of all those threads - PAGE NUMBER 8
There you will find my write up on getting the cornering lightts tested and repaired
All the threads of mine before that are not as complete as that very last one
Open the thread and my detail instructions (posted by Tony and ginny 429 )
Will begin with --status --and start by explaining --to be removing the plate under the steering column and continue foward from there

Searching for my final thoughts on that thread can seem confusing ( as i scanned thru it myself ) as the thread was unfolding and developing into the final thread by me --on page 8 --of those threads
The info there should direct you on how to --get to the turn signal switch inside the steering column by removing the steering wheel
A lot of details that should be very helpful in getting that task done as they are not as complete as the last one where i did my final write up on the repair

Enjoy ( or your doing something wrong ! )

Sorry for any confussion all the prior posts there may have been causing

Thank u all for the help

i really had no issue other than realizing the damn corner lights don’t work unless you have the headlights on

i feel like such a dipshit

the bright side is I learned some new skills with the multimeter

on a different note, finished the front bumper/grille today

something to note....

when assembling this he grille, the top crossmember must come off

this gives you room to get the top half of the grille with the chrome piece still attached

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
