Hello friends! I’m looking for a crankshaft for a 429 that will begin Grandpa’s Cadillac Restoration. I will be talking to a machine shop on Monday (fingers crossed). However, in the event I hear the second worst news possible, I thought I’d put some feelers out now. Thanking everyone in advance.
Jordan, I was going to reply on the other thread about your gandpa's Caddy and the bad rod bearings but it is good that you posted this here on the Wanted forums. I usually have the 429 crank but am out right now, but can add to my Wait List. I am supposed to bring in another 64 Cadillac parts car in about a week but would be several weeks after that before I would have the engine out and dismantled so maybe Russ or someone else here on the site would have one for sale.
Note that there are 2 crankshafts used in 1964 Depending on the Transmission it was matted up with. The 64 deVilles, 60 Special and Eldo had the Turbo Hydramatics with the flexplate with 3" opening and matching 3" raised end on the crank, and the Series 62, Series 75 (Limos) and Commercial Chassis had the Hydramatic with the 3 3/16" opening in the drive plate and matching 3 3/16" raised end on the crank. Bottom line is you need the 1964 429 Turbo Hydramatic crankshaft with 3" raised area on back.
What I do have which you may also need are stock, factory connecting rods and connecting rod caps. I sell these for $20 each from known running 429 engines and would just need to know the cylinder # and would pull a rod and cap from the same cylinder. If interested in the connecting rods & caps or getting on my Wait List for the next VG 429 THM crank, shoot me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. I usually sell the cranks from known running engines for $100.
