I have been waiting around about 2 months for another Group 60 Original Style battery (long story), and finally got Dino fired up yesterday and backed out of the garage and the dust knocked off of her today after finally receiving my new battery.  It felt good to get the Caddy back out of the garage and washed off.  Next is some intense cleaning. I started with the inside today and will hit the outside and engine compartment in the coming days. Here's a few pictures from today.. (Hey, my turn to show off a bit! LOL):

I thought I noticed something different about your car. It looks very clean with the filler plate. I think we have a similar law about using antique plates here in Maryland, but I would probably get pulled over all of the time because police don't always know all of the rules regarding historic vehicles. I remember getting pulled over for not having shoulder strap seat belts. That was a kicker.

Well, its not your fault if the policeman doesn't know the law. Make a copy of the law and keep it with you. Record date, time, location and name of the officer every time you get pulled over. Submit that info with a formal complaint if they are doing it to frequent for your taste. Maybe you can even claim a harassment compensation. It might pay for you gas.

It's only happened twice in the last ten years. It's really no big deal. I know the police are just trying to do their job. Sometimes you catch them having a bad day is all. But free gas would be nice!

The car looks better than ever, Jason.  Amazing!  I think a lot of us have a fantasy that you'd one day lose interest in old Dino (LOL)... you'd have people lined up for miles to bid on that incredible Cadillac.

Thanks Scot. Dino is now part of my DNA and will live and die with that car. I was just thinking yesterday that I have now had it over 20 years (bought Nov 13, 1996) and remember back then looking forward to when it would be 35 years old (1999) and I could run the NC Antique Plates. Now, this 1964 model year (Me!) and my 1964 Caddy model year (Dino) will be together to the end! My dad was a wheeler dealer constantly changing cars, but I tend to hang on to them for quite a while. Heck, I have had my daily driver, the 2002 Escalade EXT 'Brutus' bought in 2004, for 13 years now!

That's awesome. I've got my 5th '64 Cadillac... I bought my first one in 1978 when I was 18, it was a Sedan de Ville (I paid $150 for it... actually, $147, after I cashed out the pocket change I dug out from between the front seat cushions - ha).  I've finally found my "keeper" and the one I'd always hoped I could eventually find.  I was in awe of these cars when I was 4 years old and they were new and am even more-so now.

Here are my driver Cadillacs over the years
1963 Series 62 Convertible
1964 Series 62 Coupe
1964 4 Window Sedan DeVille
1964 6 Window Sedan DeVille
1964 deVille Convertible
1982 Coupe de Ville
1992 Brougham D' Elegance
1995 Fleetwood Brougham
2002 Escalade EXT
2012 SRX Sports Edition

and of course Dino my 1964 Coupe de Ville.

I would estimate we had the 82, 92, 95 for 5 to 7 years, I have had the 02 Escalade for 13 years, and we have had the 2012 SRX for about 2 years. That one is my wife's daily driver.

I love to see people daily driving Cadillac's of any vintage!!

Greatest car ever made in my opinion, while my preference is for '56-'64 I love 'em all.  Dino is an inspiration for those of us that keep putting off fixing up our cars. That gold coupe may be prettier than Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast At Tiffany's".

Now, I wouldn't go that far! LOL Dino does strike a handsome pose, though! Looking forward to getting it out on the road more this coming year and attending more car shows. Just sent in my registration for the CCAF (Carolina Collector Auto Fest) March 9 & 10 car show in Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC. Love that venue!

....Simply Irresistible!

Only problem is Dino is a Red Blooded Male.... although Robert Palmer's Heavy Nova and Riptide are in constant rotation on my iPhone during my morning 2.5 mile pooch walks. Speaking of Heavy Nova there is a song that reminds me of you, Tony... DISTURBING BEHAVIOR.
But while we are getting a crazy with the RP songs... I think Dino's RP song would have to be "I DIDN'T MEAN TO TURN YOU ON" from Riptide!

Well, our car got the bucket and sponge this morning too and while it doesn't have Dino's shine, she scrubbed up pretty good huh.... a blind man would be pleased to see it.

Checked all the fluids, vacuumed the insides, cleaned the whitewalls and even chucked a bit of Armoral over the dash top. I need it looking spiffy for tomorrow.

We've got our monthly Cars n Coffee morning tomorrow from 8 - 10am and then a run to Poona for a picnic lunch. I've got a stack of snags ready for the Barbie, plenty of cold drinks (We'll cop 36* C tomorrow)

Because I run the Cars n Coffee deal, I know we've got some new rides turning up too, so trying to pick the best one will be harder than picking a broken nose. I also do the write up for our local rag, so I try to pick one car as a bit of a feature thing.

I reckon, with the heat forecast for tomorrow, it'll be shorts and thongs and a t-shirt. (That's pretty formal for around here) Well, I might bugger off and clean my thongs, late time I wore them, they mud on 'em and nothing worse than a dirty thong.

have a nice week-end.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
