I have a 1963 Series 62 convertible with (non-working) AC.
I am going to have my fuel sender replaced to fix my mis-reading gas gauge issue. I would very much value any advice from the group. I've looked at Jason's gas tank replacement thread in the Help section, and it was very helpful.
I am going to have the shop I use do the work. They are very capable as they specialize in maintaining and restoring classic cars and trucks, but they are not experts on this specific car, so I will pass on any tips I get here.
I am almost sure it is the original gas tank and it seems to have a small leak when it is totally full, so I plan to have the tank replaced when they drop the old one to replace the sender. I know I need the following parts:
- Fuel Sender (I have one that I will test to be sure it works and will fix the issue)
- Gas Tank
- Gas tank straps and strap seals
- Filler neck to Tank Hose (Is this just a stock hose that my shop should have - should rubber be avoided? If so, what kind of hose should they use?)
- Filler neck (Should I replace this? The current one seems okay, and it looks like it is easy to replace later if necessary, plus, I don't know where to get one - any suggestions?)
I also plan to replace the fuel lines.
In Jason's pictures, there is a s-shaped line coming out of the front tank. Should I replace this too? Is there any recommended source for the part or is it a part a shop can easily fabricate?
Anything else I should plan to replace at the same time? Is there a fuel pump I should plan to replace at the same time? I recently replaced the carb, so I was thinking perhaps replace everything that makes sense from the tank to the carb - thoughts as to what that should be?
Any other things I should be sure the shop does when they do this work?

It is a simple gas tank drop and reinstall. Your shop will see what is going on, and put in new hoses as needed. No dark magic involved.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
