Hello friends! It’s been a while since I’ve visited this page. Last I left I had spoke about my late grandpa’s Cadillac that I planned on “restoring”, which really meant getting back on the road. That was in 2017. A lot has happened since then. The engine turned over which was already more than I was hoping for. I put in a new gas tank, sending unit, and fuel pump. I got it to start and run! I did however, find out why my grandpa parked it. There’s quite the knock coming from the back half of the motor. Last year I was getting ready to dive into what it could be when my mother got sick, grandpa’s daughter. That put a hold on grandpa’s Cadillac. Ultimately she past away last year. Now I’m more motivated than before to get this project on the road. I’m getting ready to pull the motor and tranny. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I won’t spend so much time away this time around.

Looking to the future  it will be very nice to have a refreshed engine in the car making the car very reliable for the future fun  that the car  is sure to be once you are out on the road and enjoying it

The goal of getting the car back on the road is what this hobby is about and the Fun of ownership of  a Classic Antigue Cadillac that is a special thing to you ( us ) and very many other onlookers out there

Enjoy

Bad Guage?

Posted by Karl Schwarz on August 26, 2020 at 3:08pm 6 Comments

When I test it (outside the tank), when the float is in the up (full) position it only moves the gauge to about 1/2 full. When at the bottom (empty) position the gauge shows empty. This is the same issue I have when I fill and then use the gas in the tank - the gauge never reads ore than half full. Based on what I've read on this thread it would seem like the…
