I have a Cadillac Sedan de Ville -64, with an engine 429 cu and with an ignition coil Delco D512 1115238 installed. I am looking for a new one, however, according to different compatible lists I've seen, my current ignition coil is wrong and that it instead should be a Delco D503 1115134. What ignition coil is the right? Or is it even a difference between them two? Since the D512 has been installed for a very long time and I have not experienced any problems. But can I still get any problems in using the wrong ignition coil?

Any parts store will give you a compatible coil. It doesn't have to be a Delco.

Okay thank you!

Pelle, If you are restoring to original the 1965 Master Parts Book lists the following in Parts Group 2.170:
1960 to 1965 Cadillac Part # 111 5134, stamped "134".
If you want the original AC coil with the correct # stamped from the factory when delivered from the factory that would be the one. Keep in mind Cadillac often substituted with different parts and part #'s as the years rolled on.

Fast forward to the 1974 Master Parts Book and it lists
1964 to 1973 Cadillac Part # 111 5202 Stamped "238"

With that in mind, you can get many all black aftermarket coils that will have a similar appearance and work just as well. For example I have been selling the Duralast C819 sourced through AutoZone for years.  I sell them for $23 and can ship 2 to 3 day Priority to US destinations for $7 for a flat $30. If interested in one (I currently have 4 on the shelf), email me at jasonedge@nc.rr.com.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for the information, and the very quick response! I will keep this in mind for the future and other parts, but I just found a similar one at one of my friends! Thank you once again!

Need correct Muffler for 64 DeVille

Posted by Norman Silverman on June 18, 2018 at 7:57pm 10 Comments

Hello all.

I need to replace the muffler on my 64 and the local shop does not have the correct one.

After looking on the web site's help section, I still don't see a recommended part/manufacturer or suggestion.

What is the best solution to purchase for a stock, single system with 2 1/2 inch pipes, center in, offset out?

64 Power Seat Transmission cleaning-it did the trick

Hello All.

I thought I'd post a little encouragement for those that might have an inoperative 6 way power seat in their car. The fix is relatively easy, and VERY cheap.

I just purchased an original (not re-painted, nor reupholstered) 64 Sedan De Ville 4 window. When I purchased it the front seat was adjusted forward and tilted down in front; two of the worst positions for me, so I had no choice but to attempt to repair it.

Pushing the switch in each direction brought…
