I am getting ready to install my transmission but wondered if it was easier to install the driveshaft first?
Regarding the driveshaft, how hard is it to replace the driveshaft bearing? Or would it be wise to take it to a driveline shop?
Put the trans in first and then deal with what the driveshaft May need if anything
Unless you had an issue with the drive shaft before you removed it install it and drive the car
That should set you up for what you need to do next if anything to the driveshaft
I do not have an opinion on what it takes to replace the the center bearing or to go to a shop
I do know that some driveshaft vibration has been caused by a bad rear trans bearing that should have been addressed before the trans goes back into the car
Thanks Tony. I'll be replacing the driveshaft bearing and ujoints before it goes back in the car because it was disassembled when I got it so I don't know what the condition is like.
I assume the trans going back into the car is the one that came out of that car
If a replacement trans ——there could be other issues with your trans matching up to —your engines crankshaft end —that may have to be addressed —to prevent braking flywheels In the near future
It's the original engine, tranny, and driveshaft. The engine was pulled before I purchased the car for a rebuild.

Here is a side by side picture and the invoice. They made a new one, using a solid pipe (vs the pipe in a pipe with rubber) and replaced the universal joints.
The rear shaft is the problem and it can be worked. The rear CV joint is 100% different, the pipe is solid (not 2 pipes and no rubber to vibrate) and the front CV is original with replaced U joints.
