Hi All, happy to have just joined up and looking forward to contributing and learning from you all. I have just purchased this Fleetwood from a guy who purchased it from Barret Jackson back in ‘17.  A mid 90’s resto in Seacrest green that seems to have won some awards in the past.  Very happy with it.Cheers Shane

Only get a dist cap with brass terminals ( stock in 64 )
No white metal terminals or you will be standed at some time in the future
Car will not start out of nowhere when it was running great
We avoid stranded when ever we can

Beautiful Fleetwood!

Congrats Mate!

Fantastic guys, thanks for your input I really appreciate your help.  It is a series 60, Russ.  I will check all the points and correct dissy cap ( I think it has stainless or white terminals presently, not the brass). I will check dwell angle, etc too.  I have purchased a service manual and waiting fo it to arrive.  The old AC Delco R45S  plugs will be replaced too.  This may explain why it is a bugger to start when cold, up to 30 seconds of cranking then wait 10 seconds and it eventually starts.  When warm it starts instantly.

Change the condenser  when you do the points.

Thanks Ronnie, love it the year of my birth!  like floating on a marshmallow, best smoothest ride ever!

Always best to replace new points rather than adjust the old ones
Borg Warner makes a set with points and condenser together for easier installation
The dwell SB set from 28-32 degrees - i use 30 myself
Like Kevin and Clovis i run 10 degrees timing ( stock is 5 degrees )
Produces a little more low end torque to move these heavy cars

Pertronics is an electronic ( pointless ) after market ignition that does work great in our year cars
No more points to change every 6,000 miles
The plugs will need a larger gap and you will need to change the wire from the coil to the ignition switch to deliver a full 12 volts to the coil
You presently have a resistor in that wire that needs to be removed for the pertronics ignition
How nice is it to have Kevin in Australia to help with locating the things you will need there

Many thanks for this valuable advice. I will stick to the points rather than Pertronics.

Everyone on this Cadillac club is so helpful I am really appreciative.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
