Is this modern Cadillac Art or a Rats Nest. I think it is more the latter.

I thought the wiring in the door to body rubber conduit … or what was left of it … from my last parts car was interesting and but typical of what I often see on the parts cars I bring in.  The thing here is that these driver's door thick gauge brittle wires get bent back and forth thousands of times over the course of 50+ years, and most people take the lazy way out and just patch in the same spot hoping it will last a bit longer.  Of course peeling into the door and lower kick panel area and running nice new thick gauge stranded wire is the way to go but takes much longer.  Anyway... thought you might get a kick out of the over abundance of electrical tape!

I don't think I've ever seen one where all the wires are broken like that. Impressive. Does anybody remake the wiring harness that goes through the door jamb?

I have the parts to 'make new drivers door wire harness;s, I just need to do it.

Was the door replaced at some point in its life? A lazy repair and just spliced the wires?

Pretty sure from removing the door hinge bolts at door and at body the door had never been off the hinges! Again, this is a very common thing I have seen but it is usually just a few wires.

Original 64 Color sanded and buffed out

Posted by Norman Silverman on November 10, 2018 at 9:05pm 14 Comments

I finally got the car back from the body shop, where they color sanded and polished it out. I am literally blown away by the result! Now, it looks great from 2 feet but if you look REALLY CLOSE you can see that the paint is not as glossy as it should be, but Sothe end result is much better than what I started with. The interior is still original.
