We have the Village Roadshow film studios about an 1.5 hour drive away.

They've put out a call for cars to appear in a movie about Elvis. :-)

So, I nominated our 64 Fleetwood as a potential "Movie Star Car"

Filming is early next year, its $800 per day for static use of the car, annnnnnnd, an extra $200 per day, if I get used as an extra.

Hah, me on the big screen, I don't think the world is ready for my big blockhead to appear.

They asked for a few pics of the car......

Never loan your car to a movie studio. The staff don't care about your car, actors don't care as they don't care about you or the hard work put in.

Plenty of horror stories about movie cars being loaned out. Maybe if you can stay on the set, and move the car yourself.

That's the plan Russ.... be on set during the time the car is there.

I would be the nominated driver and they just rub me out during editing.

At the end of the day, who knows, maybe they find a better car and I don't get the Fleetwood in there. They are currently sourcing nearly 200 American LHD cars.

I have some personal experience with this.A small independent film maker used my car in 1 scene. They had 1 camera so they shot the same scene from several different angles sequentially. I was on the set the entire time but it took FOREVER to get a few minutes of footage. I think I was paid $50. The film never saw the light of day that I'm aware of. The whole thing sounded more glamorous than it turned out to be. Next time I'm asked I will pass.

I know Elvis had a 64 Cadillac  black limo he was photographed in that Jason has posted on here at Graceland

I saw two 64 converts in pictures with him one he drove into a lake that was white

I think the other was a red covert behind him in a driveway

He did have a number of 50’s Cadillacs that are very correct timing wise for his carrier starting time slot

Sure they will need parked cars and other cars driving the streets to be making a movie of this kind to fit the time slot from the mid 50’s into the 60’s and beyond

Elvis’s rise to stardom had a lot to do with the new media called Television being broadcast into people’s homes and allowing media exposure like never before known in those years

Radio was the major source of entertainment before TV ( no visual )

We have come a long way Baby with media coverage since those years

Getting up to go to the TV to change a Chanel just seems so very strange in today’s fast moving world

No sign of computers or other devices —-could you imagine !

Enjoying the Flash Back

They were much less complicated  simpler times and a better way of life than we have day to day now

Enjoy

Like Russ I have heard some stories of abuse when using cars in movies

Total disregard with people climbing all over he car in some cases

So do not let the car out of you sight and you SB  just fine

Hope the experience is a totally enjoyable one for you  Kevin with no issues

Enjoy

Kevin,  Perhaps you can get a few pics on the set with your phone. They would probably not let you post or share anything before movie is out but probably OK after the fact.  It was cool back in our Feb 2014 Newsletter which spotlighted Rob Simons 1964 Series 62 Sedan to include on set pics of his car including the one below. Of course once the movie is out you can go back and capture pictures such as the 2nd & 3rd picture below.

I think the likes of Warner Bros Roadshow will have a complete ban on pics, but i'll be doing my best to get something.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
