Has anyone bought from Jamco? If so what did you think of there parts as far as there brake booster and M/C set up combo's.
The reason for asking, I own a 62, I know this is a 63/64 site but the knowledge on these cars 61-64 is great on this forum, as we lost the 61/62 forum site and with it all of it's knowledge and input, as these years have a lot in common, i.e. parts in the mechanical area.
So I thought I would post my question here, worst case, get booted off for not owning a 63/64.
Jamco has a 63-68 power brake booster conversion kit,9" slime power booster, dual chamber master cylinder, proportioning valve, P V bracket and valve lines, zinc plated, w/ the option for a disc/disc PV, I have a rear disc brake kit that I have been sitting on for some time now and now it's time to install that, 62 is the first year for the dual circuit M/C and Cadillac never looked back after that...
1- Is the bolt pattern the same on a 62 brake booster as on a 63?( Jamco list there brake booster M/C combo as a direct bolt up to the firewall on a 63 cad.)
2- Is a larger M/C cylinder needed as all 4 corners on the car will have disc calipers on it, (car already has front disc on it) and those chambers are pretty big as compared to wheel cylinders of the day. would a larger M/C be needed? Fact or fiction?
3- If the answer for 1 and 2 are yes, then this kit seems a way to for me, a larger M/C already bolted up to brake booster, PV for disc/disc, and the brake lines from M/C to PV.
I bought a brake booster from Russ Austin about 4yrs ago, bought quit a few parts from him and have been great parts, and a good person to deal with, the original booster was rusted out on the bottom and not repairable, booster is still working great for me, but starting to show it's age, he also suggested a M/C to bolt up to the booster and it is still working. I put these on at the time I converted to front discs and now the proportioning valve is leaking and I have a brake line that needs attention.
I have also ordered some parts from Jason Edge that are gold cad plated for my engine bay which will really top off my engine bay as that I have a lot of parts already gold cad plated and "if" the Jamco brake booster combo showing gold zinc plating is in fact that color and would fit, would really add to the upgrade on the braking system on the car as well as the over all look of the the cad plated parts in the engine bay.
Thank you for any info or advice on this post! Joe CLC# 29214
