Hello all,

I've noticed some oil droplets that appear to be coming from the oil filler cap on my '64 Deville.  It's not a California car so it's just the cap with the wire mesh breather...no hose connections on it.

PCV valve is new and the breather tube is clean...redid all that not too long ago.  No other engine oil leaks to speak of.

I suspect it's been happening a while but the ac compressor had been slinging oil everywhere until I got it fixed.

I recall seeing a post somewhere about someone finding a solution other than tying a rag around it but I can't locate the post.

Ah yes!  I think I'll go with argyle...

You can put an old sock over the oil cap and filler pipe to help keep the engine cleaner

The bad news is that your engine has blow by which means the rings are showing wear and some compression is leaking past them into the internal block pushing oil vapor out

A compression test will tell you a lot about the engines  internal condition

Stay Safe

My 1964 Cadillac electrical system is running around 17 volt which is to high, the alternator, battery and the voltage regulator was replaced but the voltage is still to high, could it be the pig tail that plugs into the voltage regulator.
