I was wondering how the OEM power window switch emergency/lock/normal switch is SUPPOSED to function. Mine has obviously been monkeyed around with, as the relay is missing and it only works in “emergency” mode, which I have read about here and in the user manual. The question I have, is I can get the switch to engage or “click into” both emergency and lock mode, but the switch won’t click into normal mode, as if you have to hold the switch in place with your hand to keep it in normal mode. I have no idea how this switch functioned from the factory, but am I right to assume that someone turned it around or something, and that “emergency” mode should be the mode you have to hold into position to use? I’m going to fix it all to work the way it should, just wondering how it is supposed to work stock.
The switch stays in the center of the switch and is spring loaded to go to the emergency side of the switch
You do have to hold the emergency side when you want to be having the window work for you
The lock side should stay where you place it in the lock position or center
That is what I assumed/guessed. Someone installed this switch backwards so that it can stay in “emergency” mode. Just add it to the list of hack fixes I’ve found on this thing, hopefully the cutout switch is still in the door somewhere.
The emergency switch side should be facing the door with a spring return action
Normal SB to the drivers side and lock in the center with no click
The three Positions are scribed in the switch panel holder
That switch was designed to be used when the car is off and you need to open or close a window or if you need to prevent others from using there windows like children while you are driving
