Finally I began to restore seat transmission and seat adjusters. I'm almost finished with transmission -I have to lubricated. But I do have question about adjusters. After restore-painting ajusters I think I should lubricated springs and Jackscrew. And what about gearnut on the picture 3 ? What lubrication should I use if any?

Thank you

Paul

Use white lithium grease on gears and moving parts

The seat controls in our cars when working as they should will always find you the --sweet spot to enjoy driving your super car
Not many cars i know offer this many seat positions but just another creature comfort to enjoy the ride in the most possible comfort ( similar to the LR couch )
Enjoy fixing the power seats
A nice thing to have working

White lithium grease gets sticky and gummy with age. I like to use wheel bearing grease.

Russ
Never took the time to watch it age --LOL !
Sure a good tip as i know this is some of the disasembly process leaned from the kind of work you do with our year cars
Do you know the grease that was used from the factory in the seat motor and the window motors on the gears ?
Just curious

Enjoy

The factory used white lithium grease.

We always heard the product was called Lubriplate. I cribbed these images off eBay ads.

I clean adjusters with Evapo Rust -works great.I don't know if I should paint them since there are many moving parts on it.

I would paint them with the bases adjusted to differing positions on each coat. Then throw them in the oven at 225, one hour, to cure to a rock hard finish. Same as powder coating in my book (one of Jason's tips) let them air dry first though.

Is there a separate Starter Relay, or does the Solenoid serve that purpose?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 30, 2019 at 5:57pm 7 Comments

Hello All.

I will be replacing the starter solenoid tomorrow (actually my mechanic will do the work, I'll just supervise). In checking the FSM electrical schematic and chapter verbiage, I don't see anything that looks like (or is referred to as) a starter Relay. It seems the Starter Solenoid serves the function and there's no separate relay. Right or Wrong?

If wrong, where…

Starter Solenoid replacement-how difficult? Where to buy?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 20, 2019 at 8:24pm 8 Comments

Hello All.

I believe the starter solenoid has gone bad in my 64 DeVille. When I turn the key, often all I get is a click, then if I try a few times again the starter turns perfectly. All battery cables are on tight and the battery is good. So, I believe this problem is the solenoid. Where do I buy the right solenoid and is it necessary to remove the starter in order to swap it out? …

Lining up the drive shaft

Can anyone shed some light on how to position the complete drive shaft in the correct position? I want to make sure my drive shaft is installed properly.

Thanks
