Have you noticed the stainess steel side trim on the CDV the convertibles and other models in our years cars is in the-- EXACT PERFECT location to help prevent any damage happening to the paint on those sides of the car
Car door dings in partking lots - shopping carts etc ( you name it )
Just a very interesting observation after 50 plus years of ownership and the paint holding up exceptionally well in those locations
That side trim was just good designing by Harley Earl i would be thinking

Enjoy

I agree Tony, while I love the no side trim look on my Fleetwood, I just can't take a chance parking next to someone in a lot because of the lack of the side trim. It has a recent re-paint and zero door dings right now, I have to be careful where I park to keep it that way.

It was great designing by Bill Mitchell. And in spite of the obvious  benefits of the trim and its placement which were known to the designers, a conscious decision was made NOT to add the trim to the sides of the Fleetwood 60S (and 64 and up Eldorados), owing to the desire to preserve the distinctive, bare-sided look. Not until the 1970 models were the Fleetwoods  and Eldorados treated to what the 63-64 62s and DeVilles had.

64 Recirc/Fresh Air Door Actuator replaced; FROM THE INSIDE.

Posted by Norman Silverman on February 4, 2019 at 11:21pm 8 Comments

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back.  It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Where do the flashers go in my 64 Deville Convert.  I'm thinking that's why both turn signals stopped working.

Source for Motor mounts and Trans mounts 1964 SDV

Posted by Norman Silverman on January 9, 2019 at 4:23pm 4 Comments

Hi.

Where is the best place to purchase good quality motor mounts/trans mounts for my 1964 SDV? I see that Rock Auto has them for $8 and change, and others for $24 and change. Big difference. Is there a better place to buy them from?

Thanks

Norm
