Ticking or Clicking noise while going slow (acclerating or coasting)

Hey guys,

It's been forever and a day since I posted here but I got a weird one I can't seem to figure out.

When coasting or driving real slow I can hear a ticking or clicking sound that is coming from the back of the drive train ... Ive pinpointed it to under the rear seat. If I remove the rear seat and side panels, it's much louder.

The clicking or ticking does speed up the faster I drive. The sound doesn't seem dependent on RPMs.

Any ideas where my issue lies?

drive shaft?

u joints?

rear differential?

Dry universals in the tailshaft springs to mind.

Drop the entire drive shaft out, check for wear in joints, grease and check again.

If ok, refit. If not, time to redo the shaft couplers, which is a big job and check the help section.

Could be the driveshaft center bearing

The rear U joints or the rear trailing arm bushings —of the suspension

The rear spherical joint over the rear end housing or needing shocks

See Jason’s video on the drive shaft in —videos — in the header

There is a big problem —with finding any bushings available to be replacing the the rear control arm bushings on our cars

Only ones available are short lived at best ( 2 years - unacceptable ! )

The search engine on the top right of the home page will have info on the guy who is making replacement rear control arms which is the only current solution to that lack of a replacement part that will allow reasonable wear for the longer haul

Thanks for the quick reply guys.. I'll get looking into all of these and let you know what I come up with soon as I do. Thanks for your fast help! You guys are great!
