Good time of year to be checking your coolant to see what temp it will freeze at
Giving you enough time to do a coolant change— if it is time to do so —-or —if your freeze at temp numbers are to high for your current location
Old coolant does not transfer heat from the engine thru the rad as it should ( not a good thing ) and no longer protects your water jackets from rust and scaling debris so if you have a one year five year or lifetime coolant type check out when it may require your attention
If the engine freezes it can crack the block or push out the freeze plugs both of which you do not want to happen ever
My first cousin lost his 62 Cadillac convertible engine in the 60’s to freezing in a NY winter —- Ouch !
Just came in from checking mine so thought I would give the guys—- a heads up
In Florida and I am good to -10 degrees so do not see any issue in my case
Always better safe than sorry
The engine you save may be your own !!
Never like to be saying ——-Whoa I Broke My Engine —-LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
