I have a 429 and want to replace the cap that sits between the AC Compressor and the Fuel Filter attached to some tube. Can't find the name of it. Pic attached. My cap is orange if that matters. Not even sure what it does. Like a breather of sorts. Any education would be appreciated.

I guess the picture doesn't go through

The picture is there as an attachment. If you click on the image button when you post a message, it will appear in the message like I did here.  FYI: That is your oil filler cap.

Thanks Kirk. Appreciate the education in both areas. Getting use to this old caddy has a learning curve for me for sure. Didn't even Dawn in me that's what that was.

No Problem. You're in the right place to learn anything you need to know about them, just ask questions & check out the Help tab above. As a matter of fact, there is a topic about oil filler caps. Unfortunately, finding a good one might be difficult : (

Good info Kurt. I appreciate the help.

Roy, the oil fill vent tube cap is orange because it denotes a California car. The cap is sealed to not allow vapors to escape. You should have a tube that goes from a valve cover up to the air cleaner. And a filter should be on the end of the tube inside the air cleaner.

I have a new orange cap if your engine truly is a Cali car, or I have regular vented caps if your engine is not.

Just email me at  russ85747@hotmail.com

Thanks Russ. I'll send you an email.

Hi Russ

is there a part number for that tube? Running from the cap to the air filter .

I don't have a part # or the tube but have an illustration and picture that might help. 1st check out the Cadillac Serviceman Bulletin with picture (click to enlarge) that indicates there were installed on all California cars after VIN 64x057000. In the 2nd picture see the tube. I had one California parts car way way back but didn't have sense at the time to understand what I had and did not get good pictures. From the illustration and my foggy memory I think the tube was black...Cadillac Blue would look correct as it does in this picture.

The California emissions kit came as a kit, but you should have been able to order the parts separately.  I do not have a part #.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
