Hello all, have a problem with my ‘64 Series 62 where the horn comes on when the headlights are on at the same time as the left turn signal. Thanks to Russ’s advice, I believe I have found the problem in the worn through wire on the switch.
i also have a problem where I must hold the right turn signal up/ in position to keep it blinking. I assume this means I need a new switch, but this one is unlike any GM turn signal switch I’ve ever seen. Attached are pictures of the pigtails and the broken wire, this is a fixed column. Anyone know if replacements are available?
You do need a new switch due to having to hold the right side up
The exposed wire SB causing your other issues and a crossing of electric paths to other systems
Good chance the part suppliers that live here will have the part when they come by and see the post
There is a U shaped bump that a tab locks into. Both L and R have the U shaped bump. I suspect the bump is cracked or broken on the R side of your switch. I do not have a repair for a broken base yet.
I do have a good used switch. email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I do require that you send me your old switch, as there are parts I can use to repair other switches.
The switch from Russ is the way to go —done LOL !
Tried repairing it today to no avail, although the fix for the horn sounding did work. I’ll email you today Russ, thanks.
