I am replacing all the weatherstripping and felts in the doors of my '63 Series 62 convertible (and doing some other work while I've got the door opened up). I am having a heck of a time getting the vent and power windows and their frames all realigned so they open and close well and so they align with the convertible top and rest of the car.

Anyone have any tips on how to make these alignments? Is there a recommended sequence to use in aligning and tightening the bolts and screws that works well?

All help or suggestions is appreciated.

Karl, I would recommend, if not already done so, familiariazing yourself with the all the adjustment locations (up stops, adjusting ventilator and window adjusting studs & nuts) as noted in the Shop Manual. Usually you would adjust the door to body 1st (Note 16-20c in manual), then the vent windows (32b) then the window (34b), then back to the rear qtr window (71D). These are the adjustments I have followed with my Coupe de ville (rear qtr is different) but would  not have convertible to to worry about. Perhaps others can provide more insight into window to top, or top adjustment issues/suggestions.

Thanks for the tips. It took some time, but I got the passenger door main and vent windows aligned well yesterday following the instructions in the Shop Manual and Jason's sequence. The bracket the bottom of the glass fits into still comes up about 1/8" above the felt when the window is raised, which I don't like. However, adjusting everything to keep it below the felt consistently left a gap at the top of the window. I may mess with it a little more next weekend, but for the most part I'm satisfied with how everything else aligns.

I wish the index for the Shop Manual was not broken out by chapter. Sometimes it is tough for me to find things in there.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
