James, Slow windows can be a combination of things including weak motors, dried grease in motor gear, dried grease in the channels, or broken rollers/glides on the windows/regulators.   The original grease often dries up as seen on the rear qtr window sash cam channels seen below from my 1964 Coupe de Ville.  This makes it much harder for the motor to put the window/regulator rollers/glides through the channel. Motors also become weak and worn out over time. Motors are operated with 12 volts (they do not put out voltage), and should be turn strong in either direction. You an remove the motor and remove the gear and clean the cavity and regrease. Wheel bearing grease or white lithium grease are good. Once cleaned and regreased you can bench test. With no load on the bench the motor should turn very slow.
If you need a window motor I have motors and gears, cleaned, greased and tested for $45. (with the exception of the rear qtr convertible gear which is different from the other gear used). If you end up needing a motor shoot me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com.

As an example of the old dried grease, below are the sash cam channel and rear guide with the old caked in grease and a picture below of the channels cleaned and coated with white lithium grease:

Radiator And Shrouds

Posted by Dominic Salemi on April 24, 2019 at 3:36pm 1 Comment

Hello

Anyone have a decent radiator and shrouds and hardware for a 1964 Cadillac deville. I have an alum. radiator and I'm deciding on to fix it or back to the original one. If I fix it I won't need parts.

Thanks

64 Recirc/Fresh Air Door Actuator replaced; FROM THE INSIDE.

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back.  It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Flashers

Where do the flashers go in my 64 Deville Convert.  I'm thinking that's why both turn signals stopped working.
