Ok I am having a terrible time getting the trim off the windshield and rear window in order to install my new vinyl top. This is the tool I have been trying to use which worked great on my vintage Chevys but isn't getting it in the Cadillac. Anyone have a better model in mind. I see the one in the shop manual is VERY different but I cannot find one that looks like it anywhere.
Somehow i am sure Jason has the tool for the job you are having a problem with
I used 2 wide screwdrivers..one bent, and a learned technique so I will not be much help.
After purchasing something that looked like it would work, I am very disappointed in the performance. I was able to get most of the trim off using your two screwdriver method BUT because everything was original, including TONS of original "gummy" weatherstrip under the trim, I was lucky enough to completely bugger three pieces of it. I have emailed you a small list of items needed.
Despite lots of curse words in two languages, I was not completely successful in this mission. When the guy at the windshield shop said I was on my own, I knew I was in for rough sailing.
First language would of course be English, well the American version of it. But what was the second?
German is good to use. Kind of sound angry even when not. But they don"t swear using hell or words associated with sex. For them its about the wheather. Like donnerwetter (think thats the spelling) meaning thunder storm.
I will remember that for next time, thanks Anders! It sounds like fun saying things that really are not nasty but just sound that way.
The second was actually German, my late grandmother came over on the boat in 1920 so it was appropriate.
