I have a question... When I was a young boy and teenager working in full service gas stations in the late 1960's early 1970's, I know I saw several Cadillacs with an A/C brand metal fuel filter in…Continue

What transmission fluid is suggested to replace "type A " in a 1963 jetaway trans ? I'm assuming Dextron II but I want to be sure. This is a complete drained service, not a rebuild. Any Suggestions ?Continue

My 63 CDV factory A/C was trash so I replaced every part in the system and converted to R134 . I also installed a STV bypass kit which eliminated the STV all together and converted the system to a cycling system. I vacumed and charged the system with 36oz of 134. The system is cycling as it should and the pressures are right at 250 high side, cycle off at 25lbs and cycle back on at about 35lbs. It is making plenty of water on the low side hoses and evaporator drain. There is very good air…

Odd subject, food for thought !!!
I own one 1963 Coupe Deville and two 1962 4dr Cadillacs. When I took delivery of these three Cadillacs through the years, I noticed they all had the old fashioned radiator bug screens like many vehicles had back in the day. Recently I began wondering why & when these bug screens went away. Then I thought back to the time I quit seeing these screens, ( Mid - late 1960's ). After thinking about what…

This is not a big issue but it may help someone. I am a retired mechanic of 40 plus years and I could not believe I almost missed this... My 63 CDV had a leak at the flywheel O-ring. In preparation for the repair I read many online stories about the O-ring missing completely when they removed the flywheel from the tourrus on the Jetaway transmission.
I removed the trans last week and pulled the flywheel off. Upon inspection I thought "wow, the O-ring is missing off my flywheel too ! "…

Jason, I liked the detail and information you have provided. I would like to do mine similar to yours. Can you help? Do you have trunk material? OPGI is sending the trunk product for my 63 Fleetwood. But it does cover the entire trunk as yours was done. If you do not have can you give me a reference? Thanks!! Bob

I mentioned during the 63/64 chapter zoom meeting on 3/21 that we had installed a car lift in our garage. Someone asked what kind and I didn't have the info at hand, so here is a link to it and also a link to some tall jack stands we use to add more stability to the car and an additional safety factor. There is something about getting underneath one of these cars that makes me a little nervous! …

Just developed a significant leak coming from a freeze plug right over the starter. Would this be considered a "cam plug" i.e. like Dorman 17616DS? Our cars have multiple sizes of plugs on engine block and I want to get the right one. Also, does anyone know how pricey this is for a shop to fix? Thanks!
