alternator wiring

Getting ready to wire up the alternator in my 64 coupe and I need some advice. There is a red 10 gauge wire that comes out of the loom on the firewall, there is also a 10 gauge wire lead that comes off the positive battery cable I need to know where these hook up. Also on the voltage regulator loom I assume the small black wire goes to the small terminal and the small red wire goes to the larger terminal and the plug is self explanatory. This is a good example of why you should take pictures…See More

alternator mounting

Installing a rebuilt AC Delco alternator on my 64 coupe and noticed that the hole in the mounting lug that slides over the support bracket on the exhaust manifold is a bit larger making the fit a little more sloppy than the original. Is this just the way the new parts are if so will this be O.K. once everything is tightened up. I am trying not to overthink this but I also don't want a problem any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.See More

transmission filler tube

I hope someone can help me out here. Just changed the transmission pan gasket on my 1964 coupe with the turbo hydramatic trans and I am looking for the o ring or seal that goes where the filler tube connects to the pan. I contacted  fatsco transmission and they were no help.I was wondering if any one has a solution. I have the old one but it is very hard and brittle and I really don't want to reuse it. any help would be appreciated.See More

429 Main Bearing location

Posted on June 6, 2018 at 8:11pm 1 Comment

I saw this question asked in 2012 but did not see a definitive answer to the question so here goes. The new main bearings I received for my build are little different than the originals. Of the five bearings the thrust bearing is the same as are two of the other bearings. Of the other two one has two oil groves and one is wider than the others. Does anyone know where the odd bearings go. My guess is they go in the front and the rear but I don't know what one goes where. Any information would…

429 cadillac engine kit

Posted on January 14, 2018 at 1:10pm 6 Comments

Getting ready to order engine rebuild kit. Has anybody had experience with the master rebuild kit from Kanter. It seems like a fairly comprehensive kit considering I need almost everything including camshaft, valves, valve guides, valve springs and rocker arms. I was just wondering if anyone had any issues with the quality of the parts, or if there was a better way to go. I was also curious to know if anyone has used their performance upgrade camshaft. I will be using a 750 c.f.m. Edelbrock…

Bad Guage?

Posted by Karl Schwarz on August 26, 2020 at 3:08pm 5 Comments

So I am troubleshooting my fuel gauge issue. I bought a new sender and tested it. It  it goes from 1-ohm (empty) to 35-ohm (full). When I test it (outside the tank), when the float is in the up (full) position it only moves the gauge to about 1/2 full. When at the bottom (empty) position the gauge shows empty. This is the same issue I have when I fill and then use the gas in the tank - the gauge never reads ore than half full. Based on what I've read on this thread it would seem like the…
