Brake Shoes

Posted on October 3, 2013 at 4:38pm 11 Comments

Have any of you experienced distinct differences in brake feel with different brands of brake shoe?

A couple of months back I replaced the front Raybestos shoes with new Centric 'heavy duty' riveted shoes, but the braking has felt horrible since. I thought they might just need time to bed in but I've put plenty of miles on them now and they still feel the same. They just grab too much....so it's hard to come to a smooth stop....as you try and lighten your foot on the brake they…

Power Window

Posted on August 20, 2013 at 11:52am 3 Comments

Last week my driver's side power window rolled up fine after I pulled into my drive, but then refused to roll down again later in the day. Nothing at all when I pushed the switch....no motor sound, just dead. I was about to pull the door panel off the next day to check the connections but tried it first and it worked fine. So, I sprayed some contact cleaner down into the switch and left it at that.

Then yesterday it refused to wind down once more and today, (as before) it's suddenly…

Front End Suspension Kit

Posted on July 24, 2013 at 5:44pm 3 Comments

I'm trying to decide between the Kanter 'Super' front end kit or buying the same parts separately from Rock Auto. Because I already have the upper and lower control arm bushings and upper ball joints the cost works out about the same......unless Kanter would agree to exclude those parts and lower the price accordingly.

But does anyone know where Kanter source their kit parts from and what the quality is like? The equivalents that I selected from Rock Auto were almost all by Moog,…

Windshield Washer

Posted on July 22, 2013 at 5:23pm 17 Comments

Hi all, the wipers on my 64 Fleetwood are still working fine but the washers stopped working today. I'm assuming the washer mechanism is quite simple - a mechanical pump that works off the wiper motor....so was hoping it might be an easy fix, rather than having to buy more parts. Any ideas?

Had some sound from the propeller shaft and as the rear wheel bearings just been replaced I thought it would be the center bearing. Removed the propeller shaft and checked the center bearing (as per…Continue

64 Recirc/Fresh Air Door Actuator replaced; FROM THE INSIDE.

Posted by Norman Silverman on February 4, 2019 at 11:21pm 8 Comments

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back.  It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Where do the flashers go in my 64 Deville Convert.  I'm thinking that's why both turn signals stopped working.

Source for Motor mounts and Trans mounts 1964 SDV

Where is the best place to purchase good quality motor mounts/trans mounts for my 1964 SDV? I see that Rock Auto has them for $8 and change, and others for $24 and change. Big difference. Is there a better place to buy them from?
