"The bolt can be cleaned observed and replaced but magnets in the oil pan can only collect so much metal which cannot be observed until the pan comes down again Still a reasonable preventative measure that will help Enjoy"

"They sell oil pan bolts with magnets on ( summit racing ) them so you can monitor the engines internal wear and prevent metal particals from recirculating thru the engine That is also the purpose of the oil filter I have used the pan bolt since…"

Oil pan magnets

Hi guys. Just wanting to share something. Before i mounted the oil pan i put on some magnets around the oil pick up. I do this to almost any vehicle when i need to get the oil pan of. The magnets i use can hold 5 to 6 kg each (11 to 13 lbs) i thought. I work with scissor lifts we install them in hydraulic tanks to. Great way to do diagnostics when you have engine trouble and ofcourse for atracting metal flakes.…See More

"My own opinion is it takes 10,000 miles to break in a new engine on all cars Working out the --Bugs that all new builds will have ( oil leaks - carb jetting etc ) will be the next step in the project after the engine is running Enjoy"

"Just a heads up --on installing the rocker arms on the 390 and 429 engines Some of the best engine builders ( ?) have put them on backwards preventing correct oil flow on a new rebuilt engine A really bad thing to happen to a new rebuilt…"

64 Recirc/Fresh Air Door Actuator replaced; FROM THE INSIDE.

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back.  It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Hi.

Where is the best place to purchase good quality motor mounts/trans mounts for my 1964 SDV? I see that Rock Auto has them for $8 and change, and others for $24 and change. Big difference. Is there a better place to buy them from?
