Series 62 vs Coupe De Ville

What’s the difference between a Series 62 and the Coupe Deville? Looking at the Vin decoder it looks like Series 62 comes in a convertible and the Coupe Deville does not. Is that the only difference?

"What Russ said about the coolant crossover.  Dont force it down or it will crack. There should be some slight down pressure while compressing the o-ring, this creates the seal. You should be able to seat it almost by hand pressure ."

"2 O rings and a washer, but you must be very careful with the washer trick. If the washer gets out of alignment and does not go into the hole, you will crack the thermostat housing/water manifold."

Water pump leak

I’ve posted on this before but can’t find my post or I’d comment on it. I had a machinist replace the nipe on the return and it still leaks from around the o-ring. The o-ring is good and snug around the nipple but when I put it in the hole in the water pump it seams a bit large. It doesn’t fit perfect. I’m thinking the o-ring is crimped and the OD is leaking. Any advice? I got the o-ring from a local auto parts store. I’m tempted to use silicone around the o-ring I just don’t like doing that.

Water pump crossover leak

Posted on July 23, 2018 at 4:40pm 11 Comments

I’m trying to fix the water leak problem on the crossover at the top of the water pump. I was able to get a new O ring. It leaks when I’m filling the radiator without even having any pressure. I got a new seal from the local auto parts shop that is for this year and model. I’ve tried putting a washer that fits in the top of the water pump to put pressure.

The car is a 63 Coupe De Ville but it has a 64 429. If the previous owner used the crossover from the original motor, which from I’ve… Continue

Any info would be much appreciated.

Original 64 Color sanded and buffed out

Posted by Norman Silverman on November 10, 2018 at 9:05pm 14 Comments

I finally got the car back from the body shop, where they color sanded and polished it out. I am literally blown away by the result! Now, it looks great from 2 feet but if you look REALLY CLOSE you can see that the paint is not as glossy as it should be, but Sothe end result is much better than what I started with. The interior is still original.
