Gas tank drain plug gasket????

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 5:06pm 3 Comments

I'm finising up my gas tank project on my 63 and wanted to inquire if the original drain plug for the tank had a copper o-ring as mine does, or if it had something else originally and somebody tried the copper seal deal.  My tank stays wet there, at least it did before lining the tank with RED KOTE, which I would recommend if choosing a liner/sealer.  I assume if the original is copper it would crush one time and need replaced??  Thanks everyone.

Cool!

I rolled under my 63 this morning the begin my gas tank removal and I was surprised to see painted on numbers from the factory still very visible on the frame behind the left rear wheel.  Is that rare?  I have only had my car a few months and am still getting to know her.  It's a rock solid, and apparently, always garaged Coupe.  Having a great time with the constant amazement of how solid and unscrewed with this thing is.  Out of the 60 plus cars I've had in my life, this gives me the most…

Voltage at my door jamb switch??

Posted on October 21, 2012 at 4:36am 3 Comments

I'm having a problem with my courtesy light coming on when the doors are opened. As another member has posted, I can turn the lights on with the headlight switch fine, however nothing comes on with the doors. Thanks to this site and others I have wiring diagrams to follow. I started with the drivers' side door jamb switch in my troubleshooting. Pulled it out and it's the 3 wire type with black, black with white tracer and red/white. Using my test light to ground much to my surprise, I have…

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
