As an addendum to the excellent John Washburn article on Ignition Advance and Vacuum Advance, I compiled Ignition Advance information for the 1963 & 1964 Cadillacs specifically and included in our March 2014 1963/64 Cadillac Chapter Newsletter. I have saved that "Tech Tip" as a separate standalone PDF document which you can see by clicking on

I have created a new Grand Nationals page and link in the header which includes links to past and current Grand Nationals. Before we were only linking to the current GN page but did not want to lose easy access to the past GN's.
You can also quickly access the GN pages with the drop…

I have added a blurb about which cars are featured on the Newsletters Page. We are getting a good selection of featured 1963 and 1964 Member Cadillacs by body styles and it is getting hard for me to remember which we featured which body style.
As noted in earlier message we have opening for several 1964 specific body styles we would like to spotlight before the year is out. Here was the message thread…

Hey Guys, my 63 SDV with tilt steering, turn signals are intermittent. The Right turn signal works every time its engaged but the ratchet does not turn it off after making the turn.
The Left turn signal doesn't always work. Its like the lever never engages the switch or something. Sometimes it works perfectly. I haven't figured out the scenario that makes it work. All turn signal lights and turning lights work as they should.
Is there an adjustment on the switch or something…

Anyone out there ever replaced the rear ball joint on their Caddy?? With the gas tank vent tube so close my mechanic is a little afraid to use a torch or grinder to cut the heads off the rivets. My mechanic had it on the lift and was going to remove the upper control yoke assembly to torch the rivets but the rear axle kept wanting to twist forward and down. He did use a jack stand under the drive line.
Anyone had any experience with this or have suggestions.
I've got…

So far this year we have covered the 6239, and 6357 1964 body styles in our look at each body style during the 1964 model year's 50th anniversary.
I have stories promised for the following body styles: 6257, 6267, 6339, and 6039, however all are tentative until I receive the stories with pictures.
That leaves an open invitation to our…

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
