Hello all.

I need to replace the muffler on my 64 and the local shop does not have the correct one.

After looking on the web site's help section, I still don't see a recommended part/manufacturer or suggestion. 

What is the best solution to purchase for a stock, single system with 2 1/2 inch pipes, center in, offset out?

Update on my Classic Exhaust purchase/installation. All parts (except for the Y-pipe and kick-up pipe over the rear axle) fit well. They did not provide gaskets for the Y-pipe, but my installer was able to order and receive them while the job was underway. Net, net.....car sounds good and I'm happy and, most importantly, I  would order from them again.

Update as of June 25: After reading Jason's review of his experience with Classic Muffler, I ordered the system. My local muffler guy will be happy to install it. Now, on to my AC problem; Refrigerant system  comes on and gets cold (feel the pipe) after I push in the rubber diaphragm, nothing else happens. I looked at the power arm and the transducer, both are intact with all connections (vacuum and electric) tight, blower sounds like it is on low and fast idle diaphragm does its thing properly, too. When I move the slide lever on the control unit I feel the correct detents, but hear no vacuum response, like I remember it always doing when I had one of these years ago. Anybody else like the control unit as the culprit, based on this small amount of data?.

Isn't there a shop near you where they can fabricate a complete stainless exhaust system for your car? Had this done years ago, to the original specs. Sure, it's more expensive than "off the shelf parts" but way more durable. Got a lifetime warranty.

I brought in an original parts car with the original factory exh. The muffler is 20 1/4 long, 3 3/4 tall with a center inlet, offset outlet.

As it happens, the muffler shop I am dealing with (Dualtone in San Diego) took the measurements last time I was there, and they believe they have located the correct muffler, which we will verify later today. If it is correct, I will let them do the job and install everything from the muffler back (including resonator). I trust these guys because they just did the same job on one of my 1966 Imperials-and it has never been quieter.

I bought a complete system from Classic Exhaust. The system did need som tuning to fit perfectly. Mainly the y-piece was bended to much and the piece of the the rear axle also needed some twinking. But it was not too bad.

When buying the system from them I made a deal that they should supply all parts including mounting hardware. They forgot to ship the small pieces, but as soon as I contacted them they sent it right away.

Classic Exhaust is in my book an honest company supplying parts that is correct with some adjustments. B+ is a good rating.

Norm, No rating, however, almost all of our Parts Suppliers come from individual recommendations amassed from personal experience over the years.  One good experience however does not make a good company overall and I will, and have, removed Parts Suppliers that I have become aware of where our members have had repeated bad experiences.  The best approach if unsure of a company, is to post a new forum topic asking the member what their experience has been with company XYZ. I shared my one time experience with Classic Exhaust and am sure others would be glad to share their experience.

Is there a place where the parts suppliers are rated as a result of members' experience, or did I miss that?

Fuel loss in Carburetor

Lately if I haven't started my '63 in four or five days it seems that the carburetor has gone dry. The starter cranks for an extended period of time and the engine doesn't come close to firing. I have resorted to pouring a little fuel into the carb to save the starter and battery. This gets it started and it runs fine. It also starts fine after sitting a short while - a couple hours or so.
