Well, after the EM thing, i took the car out for a ride, i was styling and profiling, waving at the chicks,, and wen i pull ed up to a stop, and gave it some brake, the whole car felt like it shook .

alarmed, i pulled over, looked for fluids, nothing leaking , now i have had the parking brake on for several days while it was on the blocks, and i know i had released it, so it was nt that, i dont think.

so, i got it home, nothing noted, but i did feel it sort of want to go into a skid at slight pressure from the back end, didnt feel like it was from the front brakes.  more of a drag skid than a putting on brakes too hard in ihefront skid.  anyway, sadly, i parked it.  Well, i thought , after about an hour, maybe take to liquor store about mile away, see how it felt for diagnosis.  at a very slow speed, brakes applied, the car just felt like it shook.,, that was before i got to the first end of the block.  so i backed up, parked it and said FK!!!!  went to friends house, couple hours later, came back, took around block, never felt the car shake, thing, but did get into the feeling the rear brakes were skidding at light pressure,, so  i got home, put in the back drive way,

now for history,  i replaced all brakes on front back in summer.  cylinders, shoes, springs, brake hoses, etc, with a kit with all the parts.. had drums re cut/ spun, what ever the term.  and up till today, every thing was hunky dory.  back brake were not dealt with at the time.   The skid feels like it is from the back.. sooooo the nagging question,

what could THIS be??

frustrated in MS,,

The more i look at the fluid,  at a thinned out level, it has an orangish tint, not rust but not black.  Like when you tip the bottle, the stuff that slides down side is a dark brownish.  But the final color is black.  At this point, i will see how the completed part of this works, keep eye on things asa i go along and look for other things if they occur

what you describe as a black brown orangish colour depending on if it's thinned seems to be the proper colour for old gear oil Kim. Does that seem about the right colour Tony?

Yes.  I hv pulled out 4.5 pints w a suction device i got at part store. Shoukd be able to get most of remaing moving the hose aroung bottom of bell.  Getting there! Tomorow will be shoe chg and cylinder chg

Tony when I read that suggestion about the finger test in the shop manual or service suggestions I laughed. You can't get a finger in there and barely a hose. Part of my pinky went in but I couldn't bend it. I suggest you try it yourself and see, you will say wtf also LOL

i put back just about exactly what i pulled out (i pulled out about 75 ounces)  so a little still in there, stuck a little piece of cardboard in bent i downward to test the depth an it was just below the hole.

hoping thats that there.. waiting on brake parts for tomorrow. got all the back plates cleaned and bolt breaker on the parts that have to be un bolted for tomorrow,,,

Don't you mean "sin" oil Tony?

please tell me the synthetic 75 90 was correct, it was listed as gear oil..

That's about right Kim. What does the shop manual call for?

Geez you two, get a motel room, will ya.

The rear seat of a 63/64 Cadillac is big enough. As many women, before you two, can attest to.

Yes,  your brains , my brawn,    hopefully,  a cruie is in my near future.  Thanks agsin for all the knowldge.  Learning new sounds and things everytime i get under the car,

I was putting bk the brakes and noted to attched picture part spring is broken.  I checked the part site kits and none seem to include this part,  what is the name of that part so i can order it.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
