Well, after the EM thing, i took the car out for a ride, i was styling and profiling, waving at the chicks,, and wen i pull ed up to a stop, and gave it some brake, the whole car felt like it shook .

alarmed, i pulled over, looked for fluids, nothing leaking , now i have had the parking brake on for several days while it was on the blocks, and i know i had released it, so it was nt that, i dont think.

so, i got it home, nothing noted, but i did feel it sort of want to go into a skid at slight pressure from the back end, didnt feel like it was from the front brakes.  more of a drag skid than a putting on brakes too hard in ihefront skid.  anyway, sadly, i parked it.  Well, i thought , after about an hour, maybe take to liquor store about mile away, see how it felt for diagnosis.  at a very slow speed, brakes applied, the car just felt like it shook.,, that was before i got to the first end of the block.  so i backed up, parked it and said FK!!!!  went to friends house, couple hours later, came back, took around block, never felt the car shake, thing, but did get into the feeling the rear brakes were skidding at light pressure,, so  i got home, put in the back drive way,

now for history,  i replaced all brakes on front back in summer.  cylinders, shoes, springs, brake hoses, etc, with a kit with all the parts.. had drums re cut/ spun, what ever the term.  and up till today, every thing was hunky dory.  back brake were not dealt with at the time.   The skid feels like it is from the back.. sooooo the nagging question,

what could THIS be??

frustrated in MS,,

I hv some calls in.  Part houses dnt show it in there kit.  Search continues!  Is tgere a name for this parr or spring?

i may have been jostling things around before a i took picture so it may have been moved or shifted for the photo

KKK, maybe you should try a spell checker before you post. Some of the things you write are nearly unlegible.

Phone typing!  Little buttons, etc,  will try to do better

My phone has a small screen and is set on a non-English language. Makes it really hard when writing something and suddenly the auto-correct thingy changes the word. So I try to take pictures with the phone and then transfer them to the stationary computer and write the topic/answer. Spell-checking makes it a lot easier, but often I search the net for a better translation, word or spelling. For instance I had a distant memory of the word "unlegible" I used above. I was correct on that, but according to the Oxford dictionary the word is hardly used any more. So decided to use it and link on same time. Just in case someone wanted to check up on it. Things like that is funny to me.

Quick question on brake cylinder gasket.  Purchased two. One came w a copper coloed gasket,  One didnt.  The two on the car both had copper colored gaskets.  Should i go to parts store and get one or are these new cylinders and hoses made to go either way

Buy new gaskets so you don't have a leak between the hose and the cylinder.

Update.  Got it all back together,  took her gor about 10 minute spin through town so i woukd hv to hit brakes regularly.  Currently.  No squatting or locking up.  Yeah!  This is a reserved yeah..  brakes are a little soft.  I did the Qq tube in the bottle flush an bleed, till no air un the line from bleeder to bottle, and, the fluid is clear as it was new fluid.

May give it another couple runs and see wat happens.  Anyway,  part of prblem solved,

Are the 4 brakes hoses new?  An old brake hose will swell when the brakes are applied, giving a soft pedal or excessive travel.

No, i replaced the hoses, shoes, and cylinder.  I may not hv them tightened down good.  Noticed some leak at connection last night b4 i was going to put her up.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
