Well, I wanted to wrap up Parts Car #49 today so I was up at 4am, headed to the Classic Cadillac Office, caught up on emails, then went to work removing the rear end... the biggest part I remove from these cars other than the engine and transmission.. and probably the toughest to get out by yourself since the ass end of the car has to go way up in the end and you need to make sure everything is well supported! Not for the meek! LOL Anyway, car was delivered to our local metal yard, TT&E here in Garner just after 10am, so stick a fork in Parts Car #49... it is done! Here are a few pictures from today as #49 begins it's journey across the Cadillac Rainbow Bridge and into the claws of Heavy Metal Death!

You should start cutting off those tail fins and turning them into couches. Might rake in some good cash selling them, or just have some cool garage furniture.
Or perhaps some end table lamps with the tail fin lights! Hey, we could partner up and you could come down and cut them out as you have experience in cutting out big chunks of these cars!
I have made a few couches like that. The downside is that they weigh so much, that it takes 4 people to load and move it. I'm done doing that.
Jason those quarters didn't look that bad. Is there no need to keep them?
Russ I love that couch, I been thinking of making one for the cottage. Either a 63 or 64 or an old wooden boat.
Clovis, I would love to keep all frames and core bodies but I do not have anywhere to store them so I let people come and cut sections out as needed. Chris Codd here on the site and in our Chapter came down and cut a qtr panel out of the last car. The qtrs. on this car were OK but had some rusting at the bottoms Most of the other major panels had major rusting so all doors, deck lid, and fenders went back into this car and to the metal yard once completely stripped.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
