been a while since anything i could nt figure out,,through reading or youtube,,, but today,, oh boy,,

i had just put in the storage fluid, filled tank last night  for winter as i was going to leave car for two months up here in MT, my truck woulnt start this morning so i had errands to run before i head back to MS, so i decided to take the cdv.

now its cold today,, 12,,,,

i cranked up,, no problem,, fired right off... let it warm a bit,, then off,,, first,,i noticed the speedometer needle was bouncing at about thirty,, thats never happened.. but got on up to 55 or so,, and suddenly it went completely erratic,,, bouncing from 0 -120 back and forth,, then i heard this static sound, i thought i lost signal on the radio... so turn off, and kept on easily,    the noise continued unless i went to down to below 30 or so,, and the needle quit bounding.  i turned around, and headed home.. as i tried to get up to 45, the static, scratching sound would return and needle bouncing,, as i went back under 30,, the static/scrtching stopped and needle stopped....there is no fluid on the ground either before or after, soo,,,,,

this really didnt sound good..  any thoughts..

oh,, in addition,, i didnt notice any slipping or anything like that,,, just that static sounding noise when i gas it gas above 30 or so....

Could be that the speedometer cable needs lube or another problem with the speedometer.

Here is short video,   that noise you hear soulds like radio static,   just so u kno as it doesnt come thru well on video

I would disconnect speedometer cable at the transmission, lube inner shaft, and turn with a cordless drill, reinstall and make sure the cable is routed so that it is not binding or has super tight turns. I tried to reroute my speedo cable a few years back at the brake booster, etc. and ended up with a tighter turn and started bouncing. Rerouted back letting it loop out as before and bouncing was gone. Video and bouncing makes me thing speedo cables. I have them in VG used condition for $25. Also have the Speedo head unit for $75 but would start with the cable.

Ok.  Will try to get under.    Lot of snow and its cold out. Still about 13.  Will it damage to use as is for short runs?

I needed to take a shrt trip ,errand,   sound an bouncr went away at hih speed.    I think the damn thing was frozen,  it got down to near 0 last .night,  seems to be fine,    could tge cold hv hardened or stiifened the lube and caused this?

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
