i recently stepped over the line an picked ups 76 pucci edition mark iv lincoln,, i know , i know,, dont need too much guff, but it was in excellent shape, under 80k miles and just in good shape, and for the paltry 3200 i paid,, i felt one more piece of luxury from my high school days i just had to get it,, all that aside,,,,

before i bought it, i searched out a lincoln forum,,, looking for pros, cons on the 460 engine,, what to look for, the usual questions when you are sometimes in the abyss,,,

my questions went unanswered but view for two or three days,, i then followed up with, yo mean no one has a comment to help me with a lincoln purchase,,,?? another day passed,, and one soul piped in with some answer that was basically, you know these cars are old,, i checked the history on the mark iv forums, and there were some that had been there months, with no reply,!!!!  i was astonished there was that little participation in the mark line..

so, my point is, that this forum is a premiere source of 6364 cadillac info.. you get good timely answer on almost every issue you can come up with here,, the Clc forum is good too,

anyway, a quick thanks to all that have helped me to enjoy these older cars,, caddy or otherwise,,,,

Kim, I have a 77 mercury colony park with the 460. One area of improvement will be to change out the timing set. First they have a plastic gear and second they come retard the cam 8 degrees. This kills the power and net about 195 HP. Putting in a timing set with a straight up timing Mark's (1970 460 set) will net more power, torque and improve your fuel economy. If the exhaust is original look into the end of the tail pipe. They I stalled two layers of mesh in there and it just chokes the engine. Knock them out with a hammer and a piece of pipe.

Thanks Clovis,,  i will look into it,, where would that set be purchased,, rock auto or similar merchants....

can i message you in regards to this engine,, dont want to be talking too much lincoln on a 6364 forum??

i hope so,, with he lack of response on the lincoln forum,,i m glad to may be have a source

that "other brand car"  are you allergic to saying,, "LINCOLN""LINCOLN""LINCOLN""LINCOLN"!!!!

that qualifies for three or four  LOL  LOL LOL LOL,, had to laugh at that one for sure,,

Just to clarify my original post Kim, Ford motor company installed a timing gear that was 8 degrees retarded in the mid to late seventies. They did this in improve some emissions but it killed the engine. There are lots of aftermarket timing sets that allow straight up or zero, advanced or retarded settings. There are different key ways that you use for different needs. I used a set for a 1970 460 that only had zero timing marks on the cam gear.

ok,  i sent you a note by message,, thanks

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
